- Get a feel of the Smartxt program
DECIDE TO PARTICIPATE
- Contact Rick Plescia, Smartxt College Coordinator, at rplescia@earthlink.net to ask the following questions:
- Is your college already participating in the California Community College Smartxt Universal Learning Project
- If so, how do you participate with your college?
HAVE YOUR TEXT PREPARED (limited to 1-2 demonstration chapters)
- E-mail Rose Desmond, Smartxt Technology Coordinator, at rdesmond@dvc.edu to let her know you’d like to participate in the Smartxt program and you need the first chapter(s) of your textbook digitized and loaded onto our box.net Library. Provide her the following information:
- Your name, College, course title and DSPS Alternate Media Specialist and or DSPS Coordinator.
- Textbook title, edition #, and ISBN#.
- Rose Desmond will prepare your demonstration chapters for our box.net library.
- If needed, Rose will ask you to send your textbook to her for digitizing.
- When done, Rose will send you a confirmation e-mail.
- She will also prepare your digitized textbook for DSPS students requiring access to the entire digital textbook.
EMBED STRATEGIES INTO YOUR DEMONSTRATION E-TEXT
- Contact Smartxt Director, Stacey Kayden at cifocus@pacbell.net.
- Stacey will arrange an online Smartxt coaching session to help you embed strategies into your chapters.
- The online coaching will be implemented through CCCconfer.org.
